The Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE), the official body that approves universities in Zimbabwe, recently announced that degrees from seven foreign universities are no longer recognized in the country. This means these degrees could be considered worthless for jobs or further education in Zimbabwe.

Why Did ZIMCHE Deregister These Universities?

ZIMCHE hasn't revealed specific reasons for each university, but they have stressed the importance of accreditation. Accreditation ensures universities meet quality standards for education.

Here are the foreign universities that are no longer recognized by ZIMCHE:

• Girne American University (Northern Cyprus)
• Sharda University of India (India)
• Near East University (Northern Cyprus)
• University of Kyrenia (Northern Cyprus)
• The European University of Lefke (Northern Cyprus)
• University of Nicosia (Northern Cyprus)
• Parul University (India)
