We Are Ready To Start Dialogue With Chamisa, Once He Acknowledges Mnangagwa – Zanu-PF

Zanu-PF’s secretary for legal affairs Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana has said that his party is ready to reach out to Nelson Chamisa and the MDC Alliance in order to find solutions for the country’s problems.

However, Mangwana said that Zanu-PF would only resume the inter-party dialogue on condition that Chamisa acknowledges President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s victory in the July 30 elections and stops calling him illegitimate. Speaking to NewsDay, Mangwana said,

We are trying to start meetings once Chamisa clears the confusion in his head. The confusion relates to accepting parliamentary results and not accepting Presidential results when elections were happening at the same time…Once he (Chamisa) accepts that the decision of the Constitutional Court is final, then we will resume the interparty dialogue. We want to look at issues of mutual concern among political parties and things that we can work together and see how we can move our country forward, from the economic front and legislative front, if there are any laws we feel we must improve, then we negotiate that.

MDC secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora said that his party was ready for dialogue but was not going to accept any pre-conditions for the talks. This comes at a time when President Emmerson Mnangagwa has revealed that he wants to adopt the Commonwealth parliamentary system in which the leader of the opposition is officially recognised and given state pay and perks.:
