The question of dual nationality continues to make hot gorges in Cameroon and within its diaspora. At the Economic Forum of the diaspora which closed in Yaounde last Friday, the question furnished the exchanges. For Dr. Ernest Simo, NASA researcher, dual nationality is one of the points of divergence that most often marked the relationship between Cameroon and its diaspora.

According to the latter, which cites the example of Israel, experience shows that dual nationality has always benefited countries of origin.

" The problem was posed to the Head of State during his visit to France in 2009. And the two major problems that the diaspora had posed were those concerning the participation of our compatriots abroad in the elections organized in the country, The question of dual nationality, "said Lejeune Mbella Mbella, Minister of External Relations, in an interview on Sunday on national radio, the CRTV.

According to Mbella Mbella, Cameroon's "cameroon" of the diaspora does not depend on dual nationality. For, " Cameroonians are at first very happy to be Cameroonians ". " I assure you, I have been on the ground [as a consul and Ambassador, Editor's note] and many Cameroonians in good faith have often said to me," Mr. Consul, Mr. Ambassador, My Cameroonian passport and my Cameroonian nationality , "said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The latter, however, reassures that the question is on the table of the public authorities who will decide in due course: " So it is not a problem that is perceived by everyone in the same way. But what I can tell you with great certainty is that this problem is really being studied and that when the time comes, the highest hierarchy will decide what it is ."
