Manchester United look set to be the strongest club in the premiership as they continue to bolster the team through acquisition of new legs.

The Red Devils have been largely uninspiring throughout the campaign but find themselves near the top of the table approaching the halfway stage.

And many observers believe that if they can sign wisely in January then Louis can Gaal may be able to master a title victory.

There are several big names being tipped to move to Old Trafford as the January transfer window beckons.

Here’s the latest:

United ready to seal Gareth Bale deal

The Real Madrid star’s abject performance in El Clasico has led to plenty of speculation that he will quit the club.

And United are finally prepared to land the Welsh attacker, who they see as the ideal marquee signing.

With pressure mounting on Real president Florentino Perez, there is a sense that this deal may be edging closer.

The Barcelona defender is set to change his agent and be represented by Barca legend Carles Puyol.

And Van Gaal wants to use his close relationship to the former Barcelona captain to lure Bartra to Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular place at the Catalan giants and is a big fan of English football.

Cristiano Ronaldo set to leave Madrid

After the former United star reportedly told Real president Perez that it was him or Benitez, the Spanish chief backed the manager.

And it has been claimed that Ronaldo is now hurtling towards a Madrid exit.

United will face competition from Paris Saint-Germain to land him.
