The Blues may have beaten Norwich at the weekend but that has done little to hide the awful performances and results from last season’s Premier League champions.

While Chelsea’s major stars have struggled for form, one academy graduate has been tearing up the Eredivisie.

Lewis Baker is currently being loaned out to feeder club Vitesse and has out-performed the majority of Chelsea’s key men this season.

The 20-year-old is incredibly good with both feet and looks ready to make the step up to the Premier League.

And there are a series of stunning stats that suggest that Jose Mourinho should recall the central midfielder immediately:

1. Baker provides the creative spark that Chelsea lack:



Creative stars such as Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas have struggled to provide the spark required for a club of Chelsea’s standards.

Baker, on the other hand, has created the second-most chances in the Dutch top flight this season and could relight the club’s fire.

2. He’s outscoring (pretty much) everyone at Chelsea:

The England youngster has scored three league goals already, which is same amount as top striker Diego Costa.

Baker has scored more in the Eredivisie than any other Chelsea star has managed in the Premier League this season.
And he’s done it all from centre-midfield.

3. He has more assists than any other Chelsea player!


Not only has he scored more than the majority of the Blues squad, he’s also assisted more goals than any of them.

Chief assisters Fabregas and Hazard have both set up two league goals whereas Baker has already managed three assists.
