Air Zimbabwe has dismissed rumors circulating on social media that the Airline is demanding US dollars for ticket sales.

In an interview with 263Chat, Air Zimbabwe Group Public Relations Officer, Milcah Chikarakate, said the national airline is all forms of payment including electronic transactions.

“The message circulating on social media is not true, I think when you look at the bottom of the message its actually written that it’s from Air Zimbabwe board and management and as you are aware we don’t have a board at the moment so the message is not from us.

“The message is fake we don’t know where it came from,” she said adding that “We are accepting all forms of payment including Eco Cash and prices are still the same,” she said.

The introduction of the new tax regime by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) triggered a fresh economic crisis, with the exchange rate hitting the roof and basic commodities disappearing from shelves.

In the past days, the country has seen a number of shops closing due to speculations that the bond note will be phased out without notice.
