Visiting Zimbabwe On A Budget: Here Are 3 Holiday Options That Wont Break The Bank
Growing up in Zimbabwe we saw affluent people mostly whites going on holiday with boats attached to their cars. I’m so sure I’m not the only one who would say, “when I grow up, I wanna go on a holiday too”. Now that we are adults, it’s almost impossible to spare a few bucks just to go for holiday considering the prices that are charged at most resorts.

On another note, there are some Zimbos living and working out of Zimbabwe, who come to Zim, visit their relatives and friends and never take a small break because they say holidaying in Zimbabwe is expensive. While it might be true that holidaying in Zim Is expensive, there are some options that may actually be affordable but still enjoyable and memorable.

So next time when you plan on visiting Zimbabwe, and you want to go on holiday but your budget is not so huge, try these options.
Great Zimbabwe – The place needs no introduction. Located in the ancient historic town of Masvingo 300 KM out of Harare, Great Zimbabwe is a monumental place that offers scenic views, boating, canoeing, fishing, cultural activities and a bit of hiking. Accommodation in Masvingo is plentiful, Urban Lifestyles Guesthouse caught our attention as they offer good rates starting from $60 per room. Self-catering lodges for $30 can also be found in this town and one can travel safely by luxurious coaches from major cities.
Darwendale Dam – Located just 76 KM out of Harare, this place is magnificent. It has a recreation park that has small herbivores like kudus, waterbucks, and baboons, etc. Fishing, canoeing, boating, nature walks and picnicking can be done at the dam. Accommodation is plentiful and it starts at $30 per room.
Binga – Located about 650Km out of Harare the capital city of Zim, Binga is a small town in Matabeleland North. Binga is a quiet small town that can offer you fishing, cultural activities and boating. Accommodation ranges from $30 per night up to $126. You can either go to Binga Rest Camp with your own camping equipment it costs $5 per person. Their Lodges cost $30 per room and their breakfast costs $6 and their lunch and dinner $5. The Journey’s End Lodge Cost $50 per room and its self-catering. Bottom line you can enjoy your holiday in Binga without breaking the bank. PS. Its true there is a beach in Binga. Wild Zambezi had this to say about Binga accommodation.

Much of the accommodation in Binga is privately-owned, so visitor facilities are limited and mostly self-catering. There are some lakeside villa options and small lodges as well as coupleof campsites. The once-popular hot springs rest camp and campsite is still operational, but currently undergoing refurbishment. A few houseboats are available for hire and one or two lodges also hire out fishing boats on a daily basis
