The identification of the body of Bishop Jean-Marie Bénoit Bala which took place this morning in Yaounde was a big Scandal that should change the face of events for worse, about the Bishop of Bafia.

The Bishops’ Conference of Cameroon had demanded a formal identification of the body of their colleague before his burial proceeding can commerce.

The identification which took place this morning within the already tense relationship between the judicial authorities and the Catholic church since the beginning of this case.

According to All African Netwok sources and with confirmation from the deceased bishop’s childhood friend Prof. Vincent Sosthene Fouda, the body presented this morning to the bishops at the general hospital in Yaounde was not the body of Bishop Jean-Marie Bénoit Bala. The president of the episcopal conference Mgr Samuel Kleda who made the identification refused to accept the remains of Bishop Bala according to the Daily. This is also explains the very vissible Presence of the military at the hospital in Yaounde.

This new rebound is expected to worsen the already tense relationship between the archbishop of Douala Mgr Kleda and his colleague of Yaounde Mgr Mbarga who left the scene in dispute. It should be recalled that the relations between the two prelates has not been serene since the beginning of the Bala affair.

Last week, some local media suspected a dissonance of opinion between the two prelates in relation to the results of the investigation opened on the death of Bishop Bala.

“There are two camps in this case. A camp that categorically opposes the version of suicide evoked by justice and led by Bishop Kleda. (…) The second line is led by Bishop Mbarga who is showing signs of Supporting the regime in power, “reported the daily Le Messenger which quoted a priest in one of his publications last week.

Following the third autopsy report which indicated the bishop had died of suicide, observers had warned the INTERPOL might have been presented with a different body.
