Sources close to Brad Pitt insist that the actor is not guilty of child abuse.

While Pitt did engage in a shouting match aboard a plane recently, there "was no inappropriate physical contact," the sources told ABC News on Friday.

It has not been confirmed with which child or children Pitt argued.

Pitt's wife of two years, actress Angelina Jolie Pitt, filed for divorce on Monday from the actor -- a move her attorney said was "made for the health of the family." Jolie Pitt also asked for physical custody of the couple's six children, Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.

Two days later, ABC News confirmed that the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services was investigating a claim of child abuse made against the actor. The FBI is investigating the allegation too, another source said.

The actor has not commented on the abuse investigation, though he did say earlier this week that he was “very saddened" by Jolie Pitt's divorce filing.

"What matters most now is the well-being of our kids," he added.
