MANCHESTER UNITED were more of a threat under Sir Alex Ferguson because their strikers were 'bigger and better', claims West Ham boss Slaven Bilic.
United are currently suffering a crisis up front following Wayne Rooney's ankle injury that looks set to keep him sidelined until at least next month.Slaven Bilic says Manchester United's strikers aren't as good as in the past |
And despite their obvious quality, Bilic admits the pair's lack of experience is the reason United are not as prolific under Van Gaal as they were under Ferguson.
"With Ferguson, if you see the names that played up front for them, they were either at a better age or were bigger names or better goal scorers," he said.
"Now he has some really young, talented players who are definitely going to be that, but simply they are not that consistent because of their age and because of the situation.
"It is very hard to be confident if you are a Manchester United player, but to be fair, they don't have Aguero or Van Nistelrooy or Ronaldo… and Rooney is injured."
Manchester United face West Ham in the FA Cup quarter-finals tomorrow (4pm).
