For years Darrell Telisme  had always insisted that he was a better boxer than his rival Stan Stanisclasse but the entire community knew it was all talk.

Stanisclasse, who turned pro in January 2013 had an unblemished 9-0 record and an impressive amateur record (43-4). He took part in qualifying for the US team at the 2012 Olympics and possessed several championship titles. He was the 2012 Florida Golden Gloves’ tournament winner.

“He was incredibly talented,” his trainer Dave Lewter told Peach Beach Post.

Whereas 24-year-old Telisme, who also belonged to Lewter’s club Elite Boxing in West Palm Beach, Florida, did not have his dedication or skill but always insisted he was a better boxer than Stanisclasse, 23, a former student at Palm Beach Central High School.

Telisme first offered Stanisclasse a fight at the club in 2010, boasting how strong he was.

“Stan put a beating on him,” Lewter said.

Telisme challenged him to fight many times afterwards that beating but the result was always the same. Stanisclasse outclassed him.

Telisme and Stanisclasse met up last Wednesday, and once again Telisme insisted he was stronger. Stanisclasse agreed to a friendly fight outside a pizza shop and again pummelled Telisme.
Before going their separate ways, the two had another fight and again the result was the same.

Just before 4am Thursday, Telisme went to Stanisclasse’s unit on Palm Beach Shores. He knocked on the door and Stanisclasse said, “the fight is over. It’s squashed.”

Stanisclasse opened the door and Telisme shot him once in the head, killing him,Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

The longtime rivalry had reached a point where Stanisclasse considered buying a gun to protect himself from Telisme knowing he frequently carried his own firearm, a friend told deputies.

“I still can’t believe it,” Lewter said. “The fact that somebody’s ego can get to this point is just senseless, ridiculous, stupid.

“I can’t imagine what it was in (Telisme’s) mind that made him think this was a better option than just letting it go. Because what’s the win here? Going to prison for the rest of your life?”
